The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project serves Fulton, Sharp and Independence Counties in northern Arkansas. Our mission is to empower adults and improve communities through teaching literacy.
READING = Self Confidence ● Empowerment ● Better Health ● Economic Growth
One in five adults in Arkansas lacks basic literacy skills. For these individuals, simple everyday tasks present real problems. Reading product labels, following street signs or filling out job applications can be difficult and frustrating.
Families suffer, too. Parents with low literacy skills have trouble reading to their children and many don't even try. The literacy levels of children are strongly linked to the educational levels of their parents, so it is imperative to teach all ages.
The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project is here to help! Through the support of our volunteers and donors, we share the power of reading with adults and families in our community.
